"All trainees are given the opportunity to spend four months in the London office if they wish. The office is located in the heart of the City, a spitting distance from Monument and the Thames. Although small, the team is incredibly friendly and welcoming and the working hours are definitely not typical for a City firm!
As a trainee, you work under the supervision of partner Heather Leeson, who specialises in Banking Litigation. Heather deals with a wide variety of litigation matters, from racial discrimination to Etridge-style cases and as a trainee you are involved at every stage. The quality of work that you deal with is excellent. A considerable proportion of your time is also spent at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, filing documents, attending hearings and even appearing before Masters yourself. You are given a significant amount of responsibility, but with plenty of support and guidance. As the only trainee in the office, you can also work with other members of the office, getting involved in other areas of law such as property and commercial.
On a practical note, the firm helps with the inevitable increased expense of living in London and they have a centrally located flat for the exclusive use of the London trainee. In addition, you are not forgotten about by your Birmingham colleagues: you are frequently invited back to Birmingham for training and firm social events.
A seat in London gives you a taste of City life but with the security of knowing that it is not forever! I would highly recommend it."
